Community Gifts
We have the wonderful opportunity to give something special to the community
in which we live, work and play. It is in the spirit of giving and celebrating
our sense of community and its unique characteristics that the following
gift items have been selected for Rocky Mount. Each of the gifts in
this catalog will contribute to the physical enhancement of Rocky Mount.
Many of these gift ideas
are the inspiration of a recent redevelopment plan completed for the
town of Rocky Mount. Individuals, families, churches, businesses, industries,
service clubs, and organizations are all invited to participate in this
unique opportunity to contribute to our community.
Trees
The community Tree Dedication Program was initiated to encourage individuals
and businesses to dedicate trees in honor or in memory of someone special
in the community. Many of the trees that grace the parks and entrance
corridors of Rocky Mount were gifted to the community. Your gift will
enhance the Town of Rocky Mount and serve as a lasting landmark for
future generations to enjoy.
Cost $100 per tree (Cost includes the tree, installation, mulching,
and staking)
Landscape projects
Beautifully designed landscape median projects contribute to the beauty
of the town. A project has been designed for the landscape median at
Floyd and Franklin by a local garden club. An on-site sign will acknowledge
each sponsor’s gift. If you or your business would like to sponsor
this project or sponsor another location in town, please contact the
Community Partnership Office.
Banners
The Community Partnership and the Town of Rocky Mount are in the process
of selecting colorful banners for the historic district and entrance
corridors. Banners welcome people to Rocky Mount and brighten the street.
Cost $100 each
Benches
Traditionally styled benches that are designed for public locations
will be installed along the streets of the Central Business District.
These benches will provide seating for pedestrians uptown and downtown.
Benches are a great gift to a community.
