All individuals, businesses, groups, families, or clubs located within the Town of Rocky Mount or Franklin County are invited to enter a FREE “Scarecrow Trail” decorating contest.
Submit your Entry Form:
- Submit (1) entry form located on the Community Partnership Website or Facebook Page.
- Entry forms should be received no later than noon on September 10, 2025.
- There is no fee to participate.
Entry Details:
- A lamp post will be assigned to you on September 12th, 2025.
- Lamp Posts in front of existing businesses will be assigned accordingly.
- We are unable to honor specific lamp post requests this year.
- Your scarecrow must be completed no later than September 19, 2025, just in time for the Rocky Mount Fest on September 20, 2025.
- If you would like your Scarecrow to be judged, it must be displayed on its assigned lamp post by September 19th.
- The judging will take place October 1st-20th.
- Winners will be recognized on Friday October 24, 2024, during the Family Fun Event in conjunction with Franklin Co Parks and Rec’s Spooky S’Mores & Fireside Tales at Waid Park.
- Cash prizes and a People’s Choice award will be given at this time.
- Scarecrows decorated outside of the designated Scarecrow Trail boundaries will not be for prizes.
- Scarecrows must be removed by November 1, 2025. If not removed by this date your Scarecrow will be taken down and everything discarded.
Decorating Rules:
- Identify your Scarecrow with its character name, entry number, and creator’s name.
- This must be displayed and visible on your decorated scarecrow at all times.
- Use your own props such as old clothes, straw, or any other accessories to create your Scarecrow.
- It is your responsibility to maintain your Scarecrow throughout the contest. Materials must be durable to sun, rain, or wind.
- All parts of your Scarecrow should be securely fastened.
- Do not put anything on your Scarecrow that is highly valued or of great importance.
- Scarecrows should be in good taste and family friendly. They should not be meant to be scary.
Size Restrictions:
- For safety reasons, your entry should be at least 4 feet tall and cannot exceed 7 feet tall or 4 feet wide.
- Your scarecrow should be within the parameters of the lamp post
- Entry must not obstruct or impede any sidewalk or right of way.
*Neither Community Partnership nor the Town of Rocky Mount is responsible for any loss or damaged articles relating to this contest. Community Partnership reserves the right to deny or remove any entry deemed not suitable for this contest.
